Mondulkiri.  Senmonorom is 376 km east of Phnom Penh at an altitude of 800m above sea level. Travelling to Senmonorom whilst on holiday in Cambodia is easy now that the road has been paved.  Transport options include bus, minivan, private taxi, shared taxi and car rental.

There are now four companies providing fast and comfortable 12 seat minivans from Phnom Penh to Senmonorom. They have 1-2 short toilet stops along the way

If you need to leave Phnom Penh late in the afternoon to get to Mondulkiri it is possible to use a private car with driver.  The journey should take five hours.  Ask your guesthouse to arrange for you. Or contact to some car drivers

 From Siem Reap to Mondulkiri

EXPRESS MINIVANS VIA PHNOM PENH

Catch the 8am Virak-Buntham express minivan leaving Siem Reap at 8am for Phnom Penh.  Their office is on Sivatha just south of the Cinema.  Ph: 0167 333 581 / 015 958 989.  When in Phnom Penh you will transfer onto the 1.30pm Virak-Buntham minivan to Mondulkiri (details above).  Seat 3-5 have the most legroom.

 NIGHT BUS AND MINIVAN VIA PHNOM PENH

It is possible to catch the Giant Ibis Night Bus at 11pm and arrive in Phnom Penh at 6am.  You would then catch one of the express minivans that leave Phnom Penh for Mondulkiri in the morning.

If you are in a group and or want to travel in style it is possible to hire a private car with a driver to travel from Siem Reap to Mondulkiri.

To travel from Sihanoukville you will first need to catch a minivan to Phnom Penh and then change to catch another minivan to Sen Monorom.

 From Kratie to Mondulkiri

There are several shared vans, minibus and Ford Express minivan leaving daily from Kratie to Sen Monorom around 8.00AM. There is a noon minivan   at 12. The trip usually takes 3.5 – 4 hours. Tickets are best booked through your Kratie guesthouse.

 From Ratanakiri to Mondulkiri 

There are several shared vans leaving daily from Banlung to Sen Monorom around 800.am. These are older blue minivans rather than the newer Ford Express minivans.   The trip usually takes 3.5 – 4 hours.  Tickets are best booked through your Banlung guesthouse.

 From Kompong Cham to Mondulkiri

There are several shared vans leaving daily from kompong Cham to Sen Monorom at 1.00pm. The trip usually takes 3.5 – 4 hours.  Tickets are best booked through your Banlung guesthouse.

 From Mondulkiri to Ho Chi Minh City

Catch the minivan to Snoul (on the way to Phnom Penh). Make sure the minivan driver knows you are getting out at Snoul.  From Snoul you take a     motorbike to the border. This takes 15 minutes and costs around $5. Once you cross the border there are motorbike taxis about 50 metres on your left.  You have to take this motorbike (20 kilometres) to Loc Ninh bus station.  Don’t let them drop you off before you make it to the bus station.   Find the local bus with Saigon written in the window.  This local bus takes 3 hours to Ho Chi Minh City (approx. $7).  There are also taxis here.  Make sure you have a valid Vietnamese visa and buy some Vietnamese currency (Dong) in advance.
